The Richland-Bean Blossom Community School Corp. school board is expected to vote on the hire of J.B. Neill as Edgewood High School’s new boys basketball coach at its next meeting.
He would replace former EHS boys basketball coach David Mahurin, who resigned in June after a May arrest for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and possessing marijuana.
Neill, a former boys basketball coach and athletic director at Shakamak Junior-Senior High School in Jasonville, Indiana, helped the Lakers improve to a 12-14 record during the 2015-16 season after they achieved a 5-18 record the previous year.
Neill was the athletic director at White River Valley High School in Switz City, Indiana, from 2009 to 2014, where his overall record was 64-49, and the girls basketball coach at Eastern Greene High School in Bloomfield, Indiana, for six seasons before that.
Mahurin’s Mustangs were 18-9 for the 2015-16 season.
The RBBCSC school board will meet July 18 at 6 p.m. in the School Service Center at 600 S. Edgewood Dr.
