Citizen reports helped the Ellettsville Police Department arrest an alleged serial thief last week.
Police began receiving complaints of unlocked vehicles being broken into on Ritter Street, Dewey Drive and Seneca Street on July 9, according to a press release issued by EPD Public Information Officer Tony Bowlen.
On the afternoon of July 13, police were informed by residents in the Deer Run area that they saw a male enter their vehicle, but he left before police arrived. Soon afterward, police received another call about a man with the same description trying to steal a bicycle on Miami Street.
Joshua Terrell, 18, of Ellettsville, was apprehended by Sgt. Craig Davis.
Upon arrival at the Monroe County Correctional Facility, he was found to be in possession of a small bag of marijuana.
He was booked on misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and unauthorized entry to a motor vehicle.
“We highly encourage all of our residents to be vigilant in locking not only your vehicles but also your homes and all outbuildings,” Bowlen said.
